St Joseph’s Primary School, Merewether is a ¹ú²úÊÓƵ school catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school aims to provide an enthusiastic and friendly environment for learning that is safe and incorporates contemporary learning spaces.

With a challenging and flexible curriculum, St Joseph’s supports families in their efforts to educate their children and offers a combination of academic, pastoral and co-curricular programs to ensure students are provided with opportunities that meet their individual spiritual, academic, emotional, social and physical needs.Ìý

Creative Arts is a vital part of the school curriculum and provides opportunities for all students to excel in dance, visual arts, drama and music, as well as cultural endeavours such as public speaking and debating. Students are encouraged to express their creative abilities within and beyond the school environment through joining the concert band, singing in the award-winning school choir, entering the speech and drama program and receiving private music lessons in piano and violin. A well-developed arts program ensures students are exposed to a variety of artistic techniques including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, digital art and photography.

St Joseph’s places a high level of importance on community and leadership, with students from Years 2 to 6 encouraged to serve as leaders in the Student Representative Council and the Mini Vinnies team, to develop their personal leadership and team building skills and boost their community spirit. Year 6 students are also encouraged to serve as student leaders, sports captains, Kinder mentors and peer support leaders.

The school’s sport and physical education program gives students the opportunity to develop sporting skills and compete in a variety of sports at school, regional, diocesan, state and national level including cross country, athletics, swimming, football, rugby league, rugby union, netball, AFL, hockey, tennis, softball, cricket and basketball. All students can participate in specialised gymnastic lessons, netball gala days and attend rugby, cricket and soccer clinics.

Students are also encouraged to participate in various enrichment activities including the Premiers’ Reading Challenge, NSW academic competitions, public speaking competitions, chess club, eisteddfods, coding club, lego robotics and many other in-class activities.

Students ofÌýSt Joseph's Primary School, Merewether are encouraged to continue their ¹ú²úÊÓƵ education by attending St Pius X High School, Adamstown.
